Personal Belief And Science

Francis Collins, MD is the Director of the NIH, the highest US government entity involved with medical science. Dr. Collins, since his appointment to this important position a few years ago, has vigorously attempted to compartmentalize his Fundamental Christian beliefs and science. Several in the skeptical and science-based community have questioned whether such is possible. Exhibit A from David Gorski in the Science-Based Medicine blog that he has failed to defend science from the irrationality of pseudoscience. To this blogger, who lived several decades compartmentalizing science from religion, it is understandable how one irrational belief can leak into other aspects of objective viewing of reality.
