"I Was An Atheist And Experienced A Miracle"

How many times have skeptics/atheists heard from individuals that they are former atheists who "experienced a miracle" and are now theists?

This blogger can personally recall several similar testimonies.  Is this a reason to be a theist?  John Loftus has posted on a letter he recently received reflecting this situation and his response to it.  Reflect on this quote from the post:

We should not trust personal anecdotal evidence when it comes to these events, especially since people count the hits and discount the misses due to a thousand qualifications. We should only trust scientific studies.

In this blogger's opinion, one of the main stumbling blocks theists have toward accepting atheism is that they are not willing or able to accept the scientific findings that the mind can be very unreliable.  This is why science trumps personal experience.
