Rick Santorum And First Principles

Molly Worthen has written an article in the New York Times exploring the essence of Rick Santorum's theology.

Santorum is a religious fundamentalist.  However, unlike Protestant fundamentalists, he adheres to the classical Catholic intellectual philosophy of "Natural Law" espoused by Thomas Aquinas and others during Medieval times.  This is also called "reasoning from first principles."  This is a philosophical presupposition, thus, is only speculative with no empirical support for its validity.  Thus, Santorium's presuppositions have no more evidence for support than the presuppositions of other theological positions.

Like Evangelical Protestant Fundamentalists, Santorum's ideology is based on unsupported presuppositions that cannot be changed through reason and evidence.  America, good luck with that if this man is elected President.
