This post is further commentary regarding this blogger's recent post entitled Catholics, Conscience and Health Insurance
What if, instead of the Catholic Church, the Jehovah's Witnesses owned and/or operated 1 out of 8 hospitals in the USA, employing individuals with a wide range of theological worldviews? What if 25% of Americans were Jehovah's Witnesses but 98% of them disagreed with their church on the subject of blood transfusions?
The Jehovah's Witnesses forbid blood transfusions. Would it be reasonable of them to prevent employees of Jehovah's Witnesses hospitals access to blood transfusions because of this dogma?
If you are a religious leader who accepts a dogma from your faith contrary to existing law, then convince political leaders with reasonable arguments that you are correct. Otherwise, accept the law or withdrawn from the playing field. Render unto Caesar ---
Thank you. This is the best analogy that I have heard about this.
