Are We Becoming Less Violent?

Jerry Coyne has posted on Steve Pinker's new book, The Better Angels of our Nature. Pinker attempts to make the case that humans have become less violent as we have advanced from hunter-gatherers to present society and that today's primitive populations are more violent than today's modern cultured people.
