Hemant Mehta
has posted on a petition sent to the White House to remove "Under God" from The Pledge of Allegiance. Included in the response:
"---President Obama supports the use of the words “under God” in our Pledge of Allegiance and “In God we Trust” on our currency. These phrases represent the important role religion plays in American public life, while we continue to recognize and protect the rights of secular Americans."
How does this protect the rights of secular Americans? Being told that you must say you live in a theist nation? To quote a comment by Hemant,
If children were forced to say we live in “one nation, under no god,” Christians wouldn’t be taking this lightly at all.
